Microsoft is about to modify your Google Chrome install

What is going to happen?

Microsoft published this document in the middle of January announcing that if you have Office365 ProPlus that they will be releasing an update that will install a Google Chrome plugin that is going to change your default search engine. This update is going to go live for certain users in February, others in March, and the rest in July of 2020

This is not something that you have to opt into but rather will be forced on all of their users in select countries including the United States. It may not sound like a big deal, but we expect it to cause issues for less savvy users who are unfamiliar with Bing and/or do not know how to switch off, disable, or uninstall the plugin.

Can we stop this?

The short answer is sort of. There is no way to disable this particular change when the update bundle is released by Microsoft as it will be rolled in with other updates. However, there is something that your systems administrators can do to disable the Chrome plugin from taking effect. There are group policy settings that can be deployed to take care of this. This is not something that should be attempted except by a professional.

How do I get Garden State Computing to take care of this for me?
